I started Shelter House Books in 2004 in a very small apartment in midtown Manhattan (New York City). My apartment was filled to overflowing with a bed, a bath and lots of books. My original idea was just to make some much-needed room in the apartment. But I also wanted to bring fairly priced books – – mostly used or “pre-owned” – – to more people. After having excellent experiences with eBay selling books, toys, and other items, I decided to start my own online retail bookshop.
I am not trying to be a bookseller of all books to all people. I pretty much limit the books I sell to detective, mystery, true crime, notable trials, magazines and memorabilia.
To make your shopping experience hassle free, I have set it up so that the price you see is the price you pay. There will never be additional shipping or handling charges added to your purchase.
International shipping will be handled differently, and you will have the opportunity to review the total price including shipping prior to confirming your order and checking out.
